An examination of two unique invitatory antiphons (Laudabilem virum, Adaperiat Dominus cor) in the autumn per annum office reveals a special set of mode 2 invitatories, which also adapt proper (scriptural) texts. These appear as geographically scattered instances in various medieval rites. This study sets out to collect individual related pieces and find relationships among their uses by clarifying the circumstances of this remarkable musical and liturgical properization, which creates coherence between the autumn Temporale and Sanctorale office cycles.Downloads
