Mozart’s operas Don Giovanni and Die Zauberflöte were staged in Zagreb only from the 1830s. The paper deals with their reception through the analysis of critical reviews of Mozart’s operas in major 19th-century Zagreb newspapers within the context of the city’s music/operatic life, local interpretative and stage forces, music criticism and reports on the reactions of the audience.Downloads
