Anthropological analysis of the Old Slavic necropolis Dlesc near Bodešče
Abstract
The cemetery of Dlesc near Bodešče comprises 47 graves, which contain 48 skeletons. It represents the cemetery of a small settlement of 5 families, and was in use from the end of the 8lh to the beginning of the 10th Centuries. The skeletons are of Alpine Slavic type with typical dolichocephalic skulls, which arc a distinctive feature of Early Mediaeval Old Slavic populations. Palaeodemographic analysis was carried out, as well as an analysis of anthropometrical indicators and a comparative study with the skeletal material from Bled-Pristava.
