Abstract

The Roman boundary stone between Aquileia and Emona, found in the bed of the Ljubljanica River near Bevke, was carved in the Roman quarry of Nabrežina/Aurisina from upper Cretaceous detritogenous echinodermic limestone. The limestone of the boundary stone corresponds to the aurisina granitello type, which even today is quarried in the Nabrežina/Aurisina quarries and is composed primarily of remains of echinoderms.
