Der römische Bronzeglockenfund von Monatshausen in Oberbayern
Abstract
The article presents a yet unpublished 1883 discovery fromthe marsh near Monatshausen. The find comprises of six bronzebells, two iron steelyards and other household appliances. Otherbronze bells from the Alpine region are cited for comparisonand the proposed chronological attribution is to the mid 3rdcentury BC or later. The explanation of the various tone levelsis not clear, nor is the description of inscriptions that wereincised into the clay core of the mould prior to the casting ofthe bells
