The Skeleton of a Warrior from Turnišče near Ptuj
Abstract
The described skeleton is a specimen of a male skeleton with a fine big proportionate skull. As to its descriptive and measu[1]rable characters we may range the skull to the Cromagnon type, to the type originating from the earlier Stone Age. Some skull indices are such as are nowadays found solely in peoples that cannot be well ranged, to any present subspecies, and that — according to their morphological characters — are ranged into old groups. Skeleton No. 8 is interesting owing to its conservative charac[1]ters which in skeletons of recent people are discovered but rarely; among the skeletons from 9th century they are more frequent. Such elements have been discovered among the skeletons of Bled as well, further in the material of Ptuj. and — judging by measurable char[1]acters — they might be found in other burying places, too. which has not been taken into consideration by many authors.
