The article brings an encyclopedic overview of problems in the etymological treatment of Slovenian personal names and place-names and describes the development in this area during the past century and a half. Special attention is paid to the finding that it is necessary to consider all accessible linguistic and extra-linguistic facts for a satisfactory etymological solution.Downloads
