In eurocentric histories of music, national music cultures played a subordinate role. In the second half of the twentieth century, the process of globalization transformed drastically the relationships between centre and periphery, and changed the concept of national. In the new situation it is necessary to develop a new historiographical paradigm that would pay due attention to the complexity of aspects and relationships recognized in the history of music by the modern theoretical thought.Downloads
