Thirteen compositions with German texts attributed to Jacob Handl are preserved in a number of music manuscripts and prints from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The transmission history, reception, compositional techniques, style, authorship and possible intended purposes of these hitherto little-noticed works will be discussed in the present article.Downloads
