In keyboard music, early as well as modern, there are characteristic instrumental figures, which, in the case of great musical works, appear to be inextricably bound up with the compositional technique and the composer’s way of musical thinking. In studying keyboard music, it is necessary to consider the method of notation of the musical texture; it is the examination of this, the notational aspect of the musical work, that makes possible a correct understanding and interpretation of the composer’s ideas.Downloads
