Without a doubt, the idea of absolute music in the late 18th century brought about a paradigm shift, but this was not as radical as is generally believed. The idea also harbours earlier moments of longue durée, beginning with the differentiation of the term “Music” in Antiquity and continuing up to the establishment of several principles of composition in accordance with so-called modal rhythm after 1210.Downloads
