Die römischen Inschriften von Celje, gefunden in den Jahren 1991 bis 2003
Abstract
The article discusses Roman inscriptions discovered duringthe construction on the Mariborska Road, as well as duringarchaeological excavations in the area of Mohorjev atrij andon the courtyard of the Knežji dvor (Princely Court) in Celje.The greatest number of new inscribed stones were recoveredat Knežji dvor, where discoveries were made of part of the lateRoman walls, the remains of Roman roads and buildings, andseveral medieval construction phases, the inscriptions havingbeen used as a building material. The more important findsfrom Knežji dvor include a dedicatory inscription for Belenus,a fragment of a late Roman imperial inscription, an honorificinscription to Iulia Procilla, fragments of two honorific inscriptionsto Varius Clemens, a tombstone of a previously unknown duumvirof Celeia, and a tombstone of the members of the Ennii family.A votive altar to the Genius of the city of Celeia and a largefunerary stele were found at Mariborska Road and a smallundetermined fragment of an inscription at Mohorjev atrij.
