Abstract
Franca Iacovetta, profesorica zgodovine na torontski univerzi in potomka italijanskih priseljencev, ki so se v 50. letih prejšnjega stoletja znašli v Kanadi, raziskovalcem migracij ne bi smela ostati nepoznana. Je avtorica ali soavtorica kar nekaj odmevnih monografij o priseljenski tematiki v Kanadi,1 leta 2008 pa je prav za Gatekeepers prejela prestižno nagrado za najboljšo knjigo leta o zgodovini Kanade – The Canadian Historical Association’s Sir John A. Macdonald Prize. Njena dela, v katerih se posveča predvsem zgodovini delavstva, spola in migracij, so zaznamovana s pridihom feminizma in socializma, temeljnimi potezami njenega svetovnonazorskega prepričanja.
