Abstract

The paper focuses on the phenomenon of open-air folkdance gatherings that happen every Sunday afternoon in Bulgaria. A bottom-up social dance event, Sunday chain dances (horos) are hailed as part of the “back-to-the-roots” movement and together with recreational dance clubs have become an important part of the overall post-Communist folklore dance and music context since 2013.
