The Mountain Farms in the Upper Savinja Valley after 1967

The treatise deals with the situation of mountain farms in the period after they had been connected by the roads. Roads enable the mountain farms first of all to become increasingly changed from the autarchic farming to the modern market-oriented production of the cattle raising. To the spare labor force give a possibility of employment in non-agricultural activities in the valleys, where they go to work daily, and the roads also give an initiative for development of the “holiday in the country”. The main aim of this study is to show how far the mountain farms have developed until 1978. There is an emphasis on stating of the economic and sociodemographic conditions. In the present study the author completes his earlier studies (1960; 1963; 1965; 1969), that show the circumstances on the mountain farms before the connection with the roads.
