/Abstract
During the spectacular collapse of the political system in the socialist countries of Europe in 1989 the Hungarian society was an exception in the revolutionary transformation, because of the general resignation and relative passivity of the people. These changes had a great impact on the Hungarian economy, especially on the rearrangement of foreign trade relations, restructuring of the industrial regions of Hungary, regional differences in agriculture and on tourism.
