Abstract

Exactly fifty years have passed since S. Ilešič, in the framework of a broader dissertation, first analyzed river regimes in Slovenia. In the following decades, the Hydrometeorological Institute of Slovenia gathered a multitude of new hydrological data, while at the same time, the development of computer statistics programs enabled its quick and objective processing. This paper statistically treats the monthly discharge coefficients that we calculated on the basis of data on average monthly discharges between 1961 and 1990. We took into consideration seventy water gauging stations on fifty-seven Slovene streams. The division into individual types of discharge regimes was made by cluster analysis, using Ward's method and Manhattan distances. The basic characteristics of the resulting eight types of discharge regimes are briefly presented.
