Članek raziskuje odnose med ljudmi in golobi v habsburški Ogrski in posthabsburški Madžarski. Med prvo svetovno vojno so golobi služili kot simbol miru in hkrati kot vojaško komunikacijsko sredstvo. Ptice so imele svojo vlogo tudi v povojni iredentistični in modernistični politiki. Članek izpostavlja tudi družbene vidike gojenja golobov, ki segajo od elitnih krogov tekmovalnega strelstva do organiziranega varstva živali ter intimnih vezi v gospodinjstvih.
