Uvodni članek obravnava procese ustvarjanja, rab in interpretacij dediščine v raznolikih večkulturnih okoljih. Poseben poudarek namenja preučevanju ustvarjalne in performativne moči dediščine v manjšinskih, jezikovno raznolikih, postimperialnih, postsocialističnih in drugih večkulturnih okoljih, kjer dediščina nastopa kot dinamično polje pogajanj, polemik in povezovanj.
