Abstract

There have been significant linguistic and cultural ties between Europe and India. They may be attributed to the common Indo-European cultural tradition spreading through Eurasia by way of conquests and migrations. Another important factor is their cultural ties, both in the past and more recently (the influence of ancient high cultures, commercial contacts, etc.). The process of Indo-Europeanization had doubtlessly been a long, gradual, and complex one. Due to limited space this essay will focus only on several mythological parallels between India and Slovenia that merit further and more detailed investigation in the future, particularly from a broader comparative perspective.
