Abstract

Behemoth's historical and political inquiry is driven by the passion of curiosity as the opposite of cupidity, which had led the proponents of vacuous opinions to sedition and civil war. Hobbes's obedient and critical analysis in Behemoth challenges a whole society's discursive system in the name of political truth. That political truth is founded in the pragmatics of civil laws which are both commands and true ethical statements.
