Art in Late Lyotard

Abstract

Within the philosophical thought of Jean-François Lyotard art plays an important role. This role alters and adopts different characteristics during the intellectual development of the author; nevertheless, at the same time it maintains some important, invariable features. In this paper the author discusses the role that art played in late Lyotard, mainly through the relation between art and philosophy, the concept of event, the relation between modern and postmodern art and, above all, through the concept of totality.
