Povzetek

Članek problem narave idej v Descartesovi filozofiji opredeli v skladu z ontologijo substanc. Najprej osvetli Descartesovo razmerje do predhodnih teorij ideje, ki so slednje razumele bodisi kot platonske forme, bodisi kot telesne podobe. Pokaže, da za razliko od njiju Descartes ideje razume kot moduse misleče substance ter razvije dve možni razlagi njegove teorije. Prva idejo razume kot kompleks sestavljen iz zaznave in od nje neločljivega notranjega predmeta, ki predstavlja zunanje predmete, druga kot dejanje, ki poseduje intrinzično reprezentirajočo strukturo. Na podlagi Arnauldove razlage Descartesovih besedil pokaže, da je ideja v skladu z drugim modelom en sam modus misleče substance, ki ga moramo istočasno razumeti kot dejanje duha ter kot reprezentacijo predmetov.
