Abstract

This article introduces new perspectives on the Slavic pagan god Dažbog (or Dajbog/Dabog) on the basis of medieval historical sources, folk traditions, linguistic analyses and artistic depictions on archeological objects. Special attention is focused on remarks concerning Svarog and Dažbog in the Slavic translation of the “World Chronicle” (Hronografia) of Ioannes Malalas. Thus this article contributes to discussions concerning Svarog published by the same author in previous issues of this journal.
