The article discusses the most likely explanation to date of the original meaning of the sampo and the kirjokansi – two mysterious artifacts featured in The Ancient Poems of the Finnish People (SKVR). Parallels with the Rigveda are examined next, and the article concludes with the author's analysis of key excerpts from the SKVR presenting his view on how the original meaning of the sampo and the kirjokansi became obscured.Downloads
