Peer Review Process

All submissions to Hacquetia are peer reviewed by an international team of reviewers. Each submission will be reviewed by a minumum of 2 reviewers.

Step 1: Technical and quality check

Papers submitted to Hacquetia are first checked against the journal’s author guidelines to make sure they are composed according to the required sections and stylizations. In the next step Editor in Chief checks whether the submitted paper falls within the scope of the journal and if it is original and interesting. If this is not the case, the paper can be rejected without being sent to review.

Step 2: Review

Papers submitted to Hacquetia are single-blind peer-reviewed. Editor in Chief selects usually two independent reviewers that are experts in the corresponding field. Reviewers perform a review with detailed comments and recommendations and make a recommendation whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised or rejected. In the case of contradicting reviews manuscript is sent to a third reviewer or a member of the Editorial Board, an expert in the field.

Step 3: Decision

According to the reviewers' opinions, Editor-in-Chief makes an overall decision and communicates this to the author(s). If the paper is accepted it is sent to production, on the other hand, if it is rejected or sent to revision authors receive reviewers' comments to improve the manuscript. The revised version is handled by the Editor in Chief and the Editorial Board and in case of a major revision, a new round of review is possible.
