Abstract

The author gives a detailed description of the mercury town of Idrija in the second half of the 18th century as seen by Hacquet, who worked there as surgeon to the Imperial mine (1766 - 1773), and described it in the second volume of his Oryctographia Carniolica (Leipzig, 1781).
