Logically-discursive pattern of thinking and meditative-mystical pattern of experience

Abstract

The paper discusses a logically-discursive and meditative-mystical approach to human existence and ephemerality. The author examines the answers offered by Asian philosophical and religious traditions to the problem of human ephemerality and explores the negative attitude of European scientific and philosophical traditions towards the meditative and mystical dimensions in the cognitive process, which is often labelled »unscientific« and inadequate, whereas in the Asian philosophical traditions it has prooved to be indispensable.
