WHITE, RATIONAL AND PERVERTED: EUROPEAN HUMANISM AND THE OTHER
Abstract
The author reflects on some of the most incisive theoretical approaches used by critics of the concept of European humanism as a non-conflictual ethical principle. At the same time, on the example of the issue of multi-cultural vs. inter-cultural, the author adduces some of the key points for the adoption of racist discourse by high humanism in its typical local and peripheral content. The author adverts to the orientalisation of the language of the local system on the fringe of the Balkan conflict, drawing attention to the typical reaction of a small system at the periphery of an entity whose constant reconstruction and reinvention of itself has for the past two millennia conveyed to the rest of the world that European values and truths are universal.Downloads
