CONCEPTUALIZATION OF THE DIGITAL REGIMES OF VISIBILITY

Abstract

Simulation is a new form of figuration, which has broken with up to now ways of representation and presentation. Time, dictated by an active simulation programme is no longer the memory time of photography, film or television, which is registered once for ever and is only waiting to be used again. The time od synthesis is a time which no longer belongs to the real time/chronos; it is an »achronic time«. We can speed it up, we can slow it down, return it to its origin to read the picture once more. This is a hybrid time which connects the time of the engine/machine and the subject.
