From Here to There - But When and If?

Abstract

In his article the author presents different interpretations of the difference and of the passage from modernity to postmodernity and from modernism to postmodernism. He presents the theories of Charles Jencks, Jean-François Lyotard, Jürgen Habermas and some others. In his opinion the majority of the interpretations which found modernism and postmodernism incompatible, stemmed from philosophical positions best embodied by Habermas and Lyotard.
